Virtual Machines

These are some links to software that I consider to be worthwhile. Some are free, some are not.

Graphics

Infranview:  A very good free graphics package.  It will handle most image formats and is feature rich.

Blender:  A free, open source, 3D rendering package that rivals those costing hundreds of dollars.

Axialis Icon Workshop:  While not free this icon package is excellent.  Will handle individual images or image strips.  Also will 'plug in' to Visual Studio 2005 and 2008.

Axialis Professional Screen saver Producer:  Create all kinds of screen savers.  Handles slide show, sprite and flash based savers.  Also not free but excellent.

Word processing, spread sheets, etc.

Open Office:  Just about everything that MS Office has to offer but is free and open source.  Won't have the exact output MS Office will but is very serviceable.

M.S. Word Viewer:  A free viewer for Microsoft Word files.

M.S. PowerPoint Viewer:  A free viewer for Microsoft PowerPoint files.

M.S. Excel Viewer:  A free viewer for Microsoft Excel files.

Communications

Firefox:  A very good, free, alternate internet browser. (Mozilla based)

Maxthon:  Another excellent internet browser. (Internet Explorer based)

Skype:  A very good internet communications service for text or voice.  Allows multiple voice calls at the same time for group discussions.  Skype is either free or paid for depending on the desired services.
